The Tomodachi universe (トモダチコレクション, Tomodachi Collection) refers to the Super Smash Bros. series' collection of properties that hail from Tomodachi Collection and Tomodachi Life (known in Japan as Tomodachi Collection: New Life) for Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS respectively. This handheld exclusive series has players feed, clothe, and watch over the more-than-often ridiculous lives of their Mii characters, as they go about and perform daily activities, make friendships, and start romantic relationships (to the point of marriage and starting a family). The Tomodachi universe was the first universe from Nintendo brought to iOS and Android (mobile devices) with (the now discontinued) Miitomo.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS[edit]

The series is represented by a single stage, its music track, and two trophies in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.

Stage[edit]

  • Tomodachi Life (Starter): A stage set in the Mii Apartments. The front walls of the apartments disappear so the area within is visible when a fighter overlaps with the room. The rooms are randomly placed and selected from among several types. Occasionally, the player will encounter a Mii character in the apartment pulled straight from their 3DS's Mii Plaza.

Music[edit]

  • Tomodachi Life - An arrangement of the daytime theme from Tomodachi Life and the daytime theme from Tomodachi Collection, which plays on the Tomodachi Life stage.

Trophies[edit]

  • Mii Apartments/Tomodachi Life

In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U[edit]

Music[edit]

  • Tomodachi Life - An arrangement of the daytime theme from Tomodachi Life and the daytime theme from Tomodachi Collection, which plays on the Miiverse stage.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

Stage[edit]

  • Tomodachi Life (Starter): returns as a retro stage.

Music[edit]

Original Tracks[edit]

  • 'Afternoon on the Island': An arrangement of daytime themes from Tomodachi Collection and Tomodachi Life.

Returning Tracks[edit]

  • 'Afternoon on the Island (for 3DS / Wii U)': A slower paced arrangement of daytime themes from Tomodachi Collection and Tomodachi Life. Returns from Smash 4.

Trivia[edit]

  • The series symbol for the Tomodachi universe seems to be loosely based on the house a couple owns after marriage, albeit with a slightly altered window.
  • The R.O.B. treasure's description in Tomodachi Life references his playability in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?

Tomodachi Life is the quirky sequel to Nintendo's already weird take on the life simulation genre.

While it received two spiritual successors in the form of Miitomo and Miitopia, we still haven't gotten any news of a direct sequel.

Enka Lyrics

Located in message/Song/Song_xx_LZ.bin/ArcBase (replace xx with the corresponding Language Code) are lyrics for the Enka song, which was removed from all International releases of the game. It's unknown if there were ever any plans to localize the song for a broader audience or if these are placeholders.

A more accurate translation of the song's lyrics can be found at the Regional Differences section for the Concert Hall.

Unused Music

Enka

Located in sound/clone_sound.bcsar are BGM_SONG_ENKA_CLICK.bcseq and BGM_SONG_ENKA.bcseq – the music sequence files for the Enka song, which is exclusive to the Japanese version of the game. Sadly, the sequences appear to have been blanked out from both files in the international versions of the game, but the instrumentation is still intact in the BANK_ENKA.cbnk file.

Unused Models

TestCube

Located in model/sample_TestCube_LZ.bin is... How surprising, an untextured cube! Likely a leftover example from the SDK.

offscreen

In model/sample_DebugTextureRender_LZ.bin, this flat model with a weird texture applied over it can be found. Likely also from the SDK.

  • offscreen

  • A better look at the texture used by offscreen. It's internally called image256.

Unused Graphics

To do:
There are more in-game placeholder graphics.

Placeholder Logos

The banner for the Japanese version of the game, on an American console with the language set to English.

The banner data for the original Japanese release of the game contains placeholders for localized versions of the game's logo.

Internal Project Name

The game's internal project name is 'clone', according to the sound/clone_sound.bcsar archive and many of the sound files contained within. This is further evidenced in the partial 3DS lotcheck document that was contained in the December 21st, 2020 Nintendo leak (located in Documents.7zDocumentsセキュリティチーム運営プロジェクトKnock_And_Talk_directcnotact報奨金制度LEGO抽出CTRdata.xls), which also references the game by this name.

Revision Differences

Please elaborate.
Having more detail is always a good thing.
Specifically: What exactly changed in version 1.1? Nintendo's own changelogs usually aren't of much use here because of how vague they are.
To do:
Document the demo versions.

Version 1.1 - released June 6, 2014 - enhances gameplay stability and performance.

Version 2.0 was released exclusively in Europe on October 16, 2015, adding the option to play the game in Dutch.
